THE SPINDLE TREE FAMILY (Celastraceae)
This family includes about 1,300 species of vines, shrubs and small trees, the majority of which are tropical. Some species are used for their wood, others as ornamental plants in parks and gardens, especially as the fruits are often colourful.
Flowers occur in clusters. Individual flowers usually have a simple, often reduced structure, petals very small or missing altogether. Pollination is nevertheless by insects.
